Introducing Collaborative Collecting
We’ve added a new Collaborative Collecting feature that lets institutions provide access to their web archives across more than one Archive-It account.
How it works
This feature builds on our Sharing Seeds system by connecting seeds, collections, and accounts behind the scenes so seeds can be found in more than one place.
With help from Archive-It staff, authorized accounts can use the same seed management tools they already know to share groups of seeds from their original account into another “Target” account and collection.
The original or “source” account still manages and crawls the seeds. No data is moved or changed, and you can update sharing settings at any time.
More details on how it works can be found in the Collaborative Collecting section of the Archive-It help center.
Example uses
Institutions can work together to build collections on:
-
Real-time events – e.g., responses to the conflict in Ukraine
-
Topics – e.g., human rights resources
-
Local interests – e.g., regional history
-
Institutional changes – e.g., work from merged organizations
