Social media platforms update frequently. For current information on any known issues archiving Vimeo content, please see our System Status page.
Due to the complexity with which Vimeo constructs and serves its video links, Vimeo videos can be challenging to crawl, archive, and replay. At present, Archive-It's crawling technologies can successfully archive and Wayback can replay individual videos from vimeo.com when they are embedded on crawled pages or crawled individually as seeds. Please watch this space for updates on archiving Vimeo, including the ability to crawl and replay Vimo channels (for example: http://vimeo.com/bates).
How to archive select Vimeo videos
You can archive select Vimeo videos by adding each to your collection as its own seed (for example: https://vimeo.com/7237058). We recommend setting these seeds to the One Page seed type. This will enable you to archive the video from the live page without capturing excessive and undesired additional material that could negatively affect your account's data budget.
How to archive embedded Vimeo videos
We recommend using Brozzler to crawl Vimeo videos. You can archive Vimeo videos that are embedded onto other pages by expanding the scope of your crawl at the seed or collection level to include URLs that match the following SURT: http://(com,vimeocdn,
(collection level scoping rules shown here)
