Add and edit collection metadata

Note: It may take 15-20 minutes for your changes to be reflected on the public site. If your changes are not reflected on the public site after 24 hours, contact us.

Edit collection name

To edit a collection name, click the pencil icon next to the collection name from any section within the collection.  

Add or edit collection metadata

Metadata for each collection is managed from the collection’s Metadata tab. Clicking Edit opens the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set. If your institution uses additional descriptive standards, you can add custom metadata elements. All metadata elements are repeatable.

Note: The Dublin Core Title element controls the title that appears in OAI‑PMH exports only. It will not modify the collection name shown in Archive‑It. 

Add collection topics

From the Metadata tab, you can choose up to three of the fourteen predefined Collection Topics using the drop‑down menus. The topics you select display as Subject facets to users browsing public collections on archive-it.org. 

Upload a collection image

You can upload an image to represent your collection on the public site. This image also appears in the upper‑left corner of the Wayback calendar page for all seeds in the collection.

To upload an image, navigate to the collection's Metadata tab and click the Upload Image box. Select a file from your computer. Uploaded images must be no larger than 2.5 MB and no more than 1000 × 1000 pixels in resolution.

To replace an existing image, click Change Image and select an alternate image from your computer.
